Lynn Jones

She is a native of West Palm Beach with two degrees in Art Education. She has taught elementary art, sold antiques and art in Georgia, and was her husband’s office manager in Cameroon, Africa for seven years. When they returned to West Palm Beach (WPB),  she joined the WPB Garden Club in 1999 and was delighted to meet women who had gone to Palm Beach High School with her parents!

Lynn has served on the FFGC Board as Historical Preservation Chairman and Historian and she was District X Director from 2017-19.

Lynn loves to do church flowers for her church in Maine. She started Flower Show School in 2014. Now she is an Accredited Flower Show Judge and Secretary of our District X Flower Show Judges Council.

Lynn studied Ikenobo Ikebana here in Florida and has visited Japan twice to attend Ikenobo workshops.

What is Ikenobo? Ikenobō is the oldest and largest school of ikebana, the Japanese art of floral design. “At first glance, the Japanese art of Ikebana—minimalist, precise, and adhering to a strict set of rules—is as intimidating as flower arranging can get. Its roots can be traced to around 1400 A.D., when the intricate offerings were placed on Buddhist altars.

The placement and selection of seasonal flowers and branches is meant to express emotions through plants. Like anything with such a rich cultural history, one could spend a lifetime mastering the art, or an afternoon learning how to make a decent replica.”
